Regular Full-Time: Job Counselor/Job Developer

Salary: Entry Level Grade 9
$15.40/hour to $17.81/hour

Primary Objectives of Position: Provides a variety of services for the purpose of assisting agency clients plan for and achieve self-sufficiency through employment. Responsible for contacting area businesses to develop training contracts on behalf of RMCEP participants.

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social and human services, or commensurate experience. English language proficient. Must work effectively in team-structured client services delivery system. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with businesses and clients. No prior history of client abuse. Able to travel locally, providing own means of transport.

Preferred Qualifications:  Exceptional written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. At least one year of client service experience. Demonstrated ability to assist individuals to make career decisions, prepare for and enter employment.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists customers to develop and maintain an Employment Plan, the primary objective of which is employment.

2. Directs customer activities through services intended to achieve the Employment Plan objectives.

3. Monitors and documents customer progress as required.

4. Administers and interprets assessment tools to assist client to identify barriers to employment and program services options.

5. Arranges for agency supportive services in program participants.

6. Contacts area employers to exchange information about program services available through RMCEP and to solicit job openings.

7. Refers clients to employers and employment opportunities.

8. Follows On the Job Training policy for development of contract, meeting mid-term monitoring requirement and completing closeout procedures.

9. Assists clients and employers with work site accommodations.

10. Prepares clients and work site supervisors for work training experience.

11. Conducts follow-up with client and work site supervisor to monitor client adjustment and adequacy of training site.

Other Responsibilities:     Performs other work related duties as assigned.
